Our Residents
What makes life at Our Lady of Hope truly unique? What’s it like to live here? Learn the answers to these questions from the experts—our very own residents! These men and women are the heart of our community, and our most valuable spokespeople.
Ann Marek, Resident
I am a 68-year-old internal medicine physician who had the privilege of spending five weeks recovering from a serious injury at Our Lady of Hope. As I responded to treatment, the staff came to me to discuss discharge planning. My response was that I was physically ready to leave at any time, but they would find my fingernail marks on the door jamb as they dragged me out.
Everyone from administrators to physicians to nursing staff to physical therapists to speech therapists to recreational therapists to aides and patients made the experience not only therapeutic but home-like. I will always be grateful and cannot recommend Our Lady of Hope highly enough.
Harry H., Former Resident

Our Families
When a mother, father, aunt, uncle, or sibling makes the move to our community, it is truly a family affair. As we welcome each new resident, we are also embracing their family and friends. They become an integral part of daily life in our community, with unique perspectives about Our Lady of Hope. Read about them here.
My brothers and I are deeply thankful for the excellent care that was given to our mother. When we first helped her move into Our Lady of Hope back in July of 2016, we commented to each other over and over about the quality of the facility, the staff, and the overall atmosphere. It was fantastic—true professionalism in every department: loving, caring, detail-minded nurses and CNAs; excellent maintenance and cleanliness of the facility and grounds; delicious meals; great social activities—we could finally breathe knowing that mom was in such a healthy, safe environment nearby where we could be with her often during the final chapter of her life. And when we couldn’t see her, you filled that spot and became her family, making sacrifices in your own lives to care for all the residents, including our mom.
Your entire staff has earned our highest admiration and respect. You are special people doing the work that you do, and we will be forever grateful.

Mom is doing so well and her transition was smoother than we expected thanks to your team. Honestly, you and your staff set her/us up for success and it worked well. We are truly grateful!
She misses Tammy and Gina by name — significant constants to her — and also Susie who cleaned and visited daily. The therapy team helped make her strong and the CNAs truly care. Julia led activities and a team that made a difference.
You’ve got a rock star team there with great leadership! We are grateful.
So many residents were friends to Mom. She tells me she will visit all of you soon. She grew so strong with your care.
Robyn., Daughter of Our Lady of Hope Rehab Graduate
My Dad was at Our Lady of Hope for over 4 months this year recovering from a stroke. We could not be more thankful for the care they provided. When he was scheduled to be discharged from the acute care hospital, we were not sure what to do next. All of the sons live out of state and I just happened to be in town one weekend and was lucky enough to find Katherine, the Social Worker, and Jenna, the Admissions Director, working over the weekend.
We scheduled a tour for the next day and registered to have him transferred. He made remarkable progress with his therapists who took a strong, personal interest in his case. He came to be fond of all of the staff, from the CNAs, to the nurses, to the therapists, to administration, to the kitchen staff. We all felt very comfortable with him there. I am confident that there is not another place in the Richmond area that would have provided him better care or helped him make as much progress as he did.
He is home now and doing extremely well. We are very much indebted to Our Lady of Hope.

My mother-in-law was at Our Lady of Hope for over two years, in both Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. She received excellent care and all the nursing staff loved her until the day she passed away. They all came to say goodbye to her just after she passed and tell us how sorry they were for our loss.
Our Lady of Hope is the best small, family-oriented care facility in Richmond, VA. I have to recommend it to anyone looking for a place to have their love one live out their final time with happiness and joy.
